Castor Church of England Primary School

Community

We aim to work in partnership with parents and be an active part of our church and village community. Children’s needs are best served when school and home work together. We ask parents to support their child’s learning at home through reading and various homework activities. We have a Home/ School parentnership agreement that we ask all parents and children to sign and agree to when they start at Castor Church of England Primary School.

Many parents and grandparents are able to help in school in various ways and the staff appreciate offers of help e.g. hearing readers, participating in educational visits, sharing experiences in history and geography.

The school likes to play an active part in the community and to help children to realise their responsibilities to the neighbourhood and beyond. Children take part in various activities such as drama productions for The Evergreens and donating food to a local homeless shelter during Harvest Festival celebrations. Pupils often suggest charitable acts themselves (such as Children in Need and Comic Relief) and will arrange events together alongside the School Council.

We are supported by the Friends of Castor Church 0f England School, who organise fundraising for our children and donate considerable amounts of money to enrich their experiences at school throughout the year.  You can read more about them, the Church, Pre-school and our Governors on the links to the side of this page.
