Special Educational Needs
At Castor C of E School, we support children with a range of special needs. These needs include children of high ability, as well as those experiencing difficulty with their learning, communication and interaction, social and emotional mental health, or a specific learning disability.
The majority of children with learning needs are helped in the classroom and are supported by individual programmes of work, where appropriate. Additionally, Teachers and Leaders identify resources that help SEND children thrive in their everyday lessons, like Little Wandle our phonics scheme.
Some children with particular and identified needs are supported by Teaching Assistants (either individually or in groups), who work closely with the class teacher. Members of staff are able to draw on the advice and experience of colleagues, including the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator. Support and advice is also available from a range of outside agencies including speech and language therapist, support for learning, specialist teachers from the local authority, school nurse and Educational Psychologist. Please see the School's information report for further information.
